California chaparral includes geni of Adenostoma (greasewood), Purshia (bitterbrush), Heteromeles (toyon), Cercocarpus (mountain mahogany), Prunus (cherries), and members of the families Rhamnaceae (buckthorn), Ericaceae (heather), Fagaceae (beech), and Anacrdiaceae (sumac).
