Charred Leaf Fragment
This is from a home impacted by a near approach of the
Etiwanda fire. The Etiwanda fire was typical of a Southern
California Chaparral fire. These fragments are from the veins of a deciduous leaf.
The finely space black bars normal to the long direction of the
particles are the reinforcing ribs of the veins. The particle on the left shows a
branching structure of the veins in the leaf.
