Insect Carapace

This is from the Creek/Sylmar fire in Los Angeles, California in 2017. This is from an environmental tapelift collected in a home near the Creek fire. It shows a fragment of charred wood (right) and a tire wear particle. The tire wear is the tapered cylinder with very low reflectivity. Some of the mineral filler grains show up as highlights on the tire wear particle. The charred wood in the jagged fragment with higher reflectivity.
