Resin Spheres from Transformer Oil Through the Microscope

Resin Sphere

Resin sphere form under some conditions in transformer oil over time. These tend to be yellow to brown in color. They are spherical because they form in the oil itself. This sphere is unusually large. Generally they are less than 50 micrometers.
