Coal slag abrasive may be very
dark in appearance. The color of coal slag is normally dark as a result of the iron
content in the glass. There may be mineral
inclusions including magnetite in the abrasive.

Coal slag is produced from the debris remaining after the combustion of the coal. It
is a glassy material composed of the
mineral inclusions in the coal that were melted together by the heat in the
coal-fired boiler.
