                This is an image from a stained standard section of Abies
                  balsamea made by John P. Limbach of Ripon, Wisconsin. The cross-
                  field pitting is the "Taxodioid" type, oval or elongated with no or narrow border
                  and inclined from the long axis of the fiber.
