Ashed Alder Bark
This is white ash from Alder bark. Cell structure is no
longer evident but the pyrolyzed calcium oxalate phytoliths are
still present. The dark areas are not char but areas where no light is transmitted
due to light scatter and reflection. This is from a section of
alder bark that was ashed in a muffle furnace.
