Timber Bamboo Cross-Section Through the Microscope

Timber Bamboo Cross-Section

This is an image from a stained standard section of Timber bamboo. It has been stained with safranin and astra blue. Safranin stains the cellulose red and astra blue stains the lignin blue. The long fiber bundles form around the three large vessels in groups. The cells that form the matrix are parenchyma cells. The skin of the bamboo is out of view here to the left.
