Carpet Beetle Frass

Carpet Beetle Frass

This is a single fecal pellet of a carpet beetle feeding on the carapace of a dead insect. The appearance of the fecal pellets is strongly affected by the nature of the food source, in this case chitin. The fecal pellet in this case fragments under pressure into this collection of chitin pieces.
