Yellow Body Acoustic Ceiling Tile
This is a common form of acoustic ceiling tile. The body of
the tile is glass fiber bound by
yellow phenolic resin. The amount of phenolic resin is higher than in thermal
blanket insulation but less
than in ventilation system soundboard. The amount of resin used for a specific
material is dependent
on the stiffness requirements for the final product. Thermal blanket insulation must
be very flexible,
while soundboard must be very stiff. Acoustic ceiling tile stiffness is between
these two.
