Carbon Fiber Composite Thin Section With Peel Ply Still In
Place
The peel ply is reinforced with polyester fiber (the larger
white or yellowish fibers). The
peel ply resin is cloudy in appearance and can be seen to have enveloped part of the
outermost carbon fiber fabric ply.
The carbon fiber resin is clear and can be seen between the deeper carbon fiber
bundles. Two large voids in the composite
can be seen at the lower center of the image, one above the other. A delamination is
evident at the bottom of the image.
