Definition/Function:
Urea-formaldehyde foam insulation is common in prefab walls or as insulation injected
into walls after construction to improve insulation.
                Significance in the Environment:
Urea-formaldehyde foam is a source of formaldehyde vapor in homes along with
urea-formaldehyde glues used in some construction materials. The
foam particles themselves are an abrasive irritant to the skin and mucus membranes.
