Insect Fragment

Insect Fragment

This is a fragment from a green insect that was initially trapped on the fresh air filter of a ventilation system. When the filter was changed some of the insect fragments fell into the duct and were then blown into the office space. The muscle fiber in the upper leg fragment is birefringent and appears white (upper middle). The mid-section of the body also contains some muscle fiber (lower left of center).
