There are four types of bacteria, most about 0.5 to 0.8 micrometers in smallest dimension and about a micrometer in longest dimension. Some are spherical. Some are rods and some of the rods for two-cell chains. The longer rods are about 0.1 micrometers in smallest dimension and often 12 or more micrometers long.
