P100S Thornel Carbon Fiber

P100S Thornel Carbon Fiber

This section was cut at 90 degrees to the plane of the layup. Polarized light shows the orientation of the graphene regions in the fiber. This fiber is derived from pitch. The graphene domain orientation is much more random with respect to the tangential and radial directions in the fiber than when a fibrous precursor is used.
