This is an image from a stained standard section of Pinus ponderosa made by John P. Limbach of Ripon, Wisconsin. This shows the "Pinoid" (center) and the "Window" (upper) cross-field pitting characteristic of the pines. The dentate ray tracheids can be seen on the right of this image.
