Diffraction Pattern from a Radiolaria

This is the image at the back focal plane of a 40X, NA 0.65 objective looking at the radiolaria shown in this set of photographs using brightfield illumination. Two groups of six of diffraction maxima are visible around of the "0" order bright spot in the center. These corrispond to the two ways of viewing the hexagonal array of holes.
