Slag Abrasive
                Blast furnace slag abrasive may be gray, as in this case,
                  or colorless, brown, green, blue. or orange. The color is normally
                  from the iron content in the glass. There may be magnetite inclusions but that is an
                  undesirable impurity and tends to be very rare in slag used
                  as an abrasive.
