Magnetite Spheres

Scaning Electron Microscope Image Courtesy of Bart Cannon of Cannon Microprobe

These are magnetite spheres from a weld shop. Magnetite spheres created by grinding, tourch cutting, or welding tend to
be hollow spheres with a significantly lower bulk density than magnetite, 5.5 g/cc. These particles tend to remain airborne
and travel much farther than would be expected.
