Rotation of Polarization
Rotation of polarization can occure at any surface where there is a
significant difference in refractive index. Air bubbles in a high refractive
index medium is a simple example. The edges of glass fibers when they are in
a medium of very different refractive index is another example.
Extinction is always tangential or parallel to the reflecting surface in
these cases.
