California chaparral includes geni of Adenostoma (greasewood), Purshia (bitterbrush), Heteromeles (toyon), Cercocarpus (mountain mahogany), Prunus (cherries), and members of the families Rhamnaceae (buckthorn), Ericaceae (heather), Fagaceae (beech), and Anacrdiaceae (sumac). Quercus (Shrub live oak) is common on north facing slopes and moister areas. Platanus (arizona sycamore) is also present.
